A few weeks ago I got to spend a lazy Sunday morning with my incredibly adorable niece Nora. She is one year old and absolutely perfect in every little way possible. This photo of our hands together taken that morning is quite possibly my most favorite picture ever. So simple, so sweet and full of so much love.
A few days ago I was thinking about my best friend’s daughter, Ashley, who turns 15 today and has always called me “Aunt Erin”. How is this kid already 15?!?! I still remember getting the phone call that she had been born like it was yesterday. I could tell you where I was, what time it was and even what I was wearing. She wasn’t my niece through a blood line, but I loved her as such from the moment I heard she entered this world, and even more so the first time I held her. I have watched her grow from a cute & playful little girl who loved her dolls & Teletubbies to a beautiful young lady who simply loves life and brings so much light to the world for all those lucky enough to know her.
Today I am feeling so incredibly blessed as I think about the five little, and three not so little anymore, pumpkins who have come into this world over the past 15 years to call me “Aunt Erin”. This beautiful girl will always be the first who called me by that name, made me realize what a gift it is to be an Aunt, and she will forever and always hold a very special place in my heart.
Happy Birthday Ashley!! I love you. xoxo
