With the arrival of fall officially here on the calendar today, fall decorating has commenced in my home. Up first, the stairs. In many homes one of the first things you see just inside the entrance is a staircase leading up to the second floor. My house is no exception. To add a little fall flair and instant eye catcher when walking in to my own home, I decorated the stairs with alternating decorative pumpkins and leaf vase filler.
To create this look, start with a pumpkin at the base of the stairs, place a few leaves under the pumpkin and then drop some leaves on the second step. Alternate on each step, or every two steps until you get to the top of the stairs. You can find leaf vase filler in most craft stores and the home décor area of many stores. Decorative pumpkins can also be found in the home décor area of many retail stores. Go with whatever you like and captures your eye and personal style.
Note of caution: While this is an attractive decorating idea, please take the needs of your own home into consideration. If you have kids, pets, etc. walking up the stairs quite a bit, this may not be a good idea for your home. You don’t want to create a display that you’re constantly having to straighten up, or could possibly create a zone for injury for those using the stairs.
